Application Description: 
Linear indexing motion of drill head for use in shutter manufacturing automation.

Challenge:
A manufacturer of interior wood shutters needed to automate the movement of drill heads for accurate drilling of holes for louver installation. High precision (.004") hole spacing and high speed motion was necessary to achieve throughput. A sealed actuator was desired to keep sawdust out. The system needed to be easy to use with quick set-up.

Tolomatic Solution:
A B3WD15 electric belt drive actuator was selected to index the drill heads. The B3W actuator was able to handle drill head weight loads and drill forces required to create the holes while maintaining depth for drilling accuracy. The completely sealed bearing in the B3W actuator kept sawdust at bay.
