The intensifier is ideal for operating hydraulic calipers. The intensifier takes a low pressure pneumatic input and converts it to a high pressure hydraulic output without the use of high pressure hydraulic systems. Operating at higher pressure can often times eliminate the requirement of additional calipers. During the air to hydraulic pressure conversion process, a spring return in the booster allows the piston to retract and draw in oil from the reservoir. The spring chamber is vented to eliminate back pressure and return air is filtered to eliminate entrapment of dirt or other foreign particles. A threaded port is provided for filling or connecting a pressure gauge. Bleeding and filling are external. Small, simple and inexpensive, the intensifier operates at a 10:1 ratio of output pressure to input pressure and can be used with non-retractable Tolomatic hydraulic caliper brakes up to the 220 series sizes. The intensifier should not be used on brakes larger than the 220 series or on spring-applied or retractable calipers. |
